Snowbird Shipping

Seasonal car shipping for New Jersey snowbirds

Tens of thousands of New Jersey residents spend the winter in Florida, Arizona, or the Carolinas, and most of them want their own car waiting when they arrive. Shipping it is cheaper than you might think once you count fuel, two or three nights of hotels, meals, tolls, and 1,200 miles of wear, and it means you can fly down in three hours instead of driving for three days. Our offices in Toms River, Brick, Middletown, Red Bank, Asbury Park, and Cherry Hill handle thousands of these moves every season.

When to book

Southbound demand peaks from mid-October through mid-December; northbound peaks from mid-March through mid-May. Carriers fill up fast in those windows and prices rise as space tightens. Book two to three weeks ahead for the best rate and your first-choice dates. Booking in September for an October departure, or in February for an April return, is ideal.

Round-trip booking

Book both legs at once and your return date is reserved before the spring rush begins. If your plans change, return dates can be adjusted with notice. Round-trip customers also get a dedicated dispatcher who already knows your addresses on both ends.

Delivery when you're not there yet

Many snowbirds ship the car a few days before they fly. We can deliver to a neighbor, a property manager, a community guardhouse, or a storage facility, and hold the keys as instructed. Tell us who will receive the vehicle and how to reach them.

Open or enclosed for the winter?

Open transport is the right choice for most snowbird vehicles. Enclosed is popular for the collector cars and convertibles that make the trip from Rumson, Spring Lake, and Haddonfield; book enclosed even earlier in peak season, since those carriers are fewer.

FAQ

Snowbird Car Shipping questions

How much does it cost to ship a car from New Jersey to Florida?

In a typical season, open transport for a sedan runs roughly $900 to $1,300 one way, SUVs and trucks somewhat more. Peak weeks in late October and late March are higher. Get an exact all-in price in the quote tool.

Can I ship two cars?

Yes. Two vehicles to the same destination often ride on the same truck, and we price them together.

Can I put luggage in the car?

Carriers generally allow up to about 100 pounds of personal items in the trunk or below the window line, at your own risk and uninsured. Don't pack valuables, documents, or anything you'd miss.

What if my return date changes?

Call your dispatcher with as much notice as you can. We'll rebook the northbound leg at the current rate for the new dates.
